Seau is considered one of the best players to never win a Super Bowl, and is recognized for his consecutive Pro Bowl selections in seasons with the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins. Seau retired from football, four days before signing a one-year contract with the New England Patriots. He officially re-signed with New England and was a key member of the defensive core that helped the Patriots during the regular season and reach the Super Bowl.
