Philip Douglas Jackson (born September 17, 1945 in Deer Lodge, Montana) is a retired American basketball player and current coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely regarded as being one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. He has won nine Championships as a coach, accomplishing three three-peats: two with the Bulls and one with the Lakers. He has coached players such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant. He holds the record for the highest winning percentage as a coach during the regular-season and the post-season. He was named NBA coach of the year in 1996 in which the Bulls won an NBA record 72 games and won the franchise's 4th championship. Jackson was inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2007. He has won eleven NBA Finals Championships (2 as a player and 9 as a coach). Each of the seventeen seasons that he has coached in the NBA his team has made the NBA Playoffs.
